  1. There are almost no longterm studies on the effects of consuming differing amounts of these artificial sweeteners. Some short-term studies though are not indicating anything good or settling. It's kinda scary because many of these sweeteners are in sugar-free things like energy drinks, coffees, sugar-free desserts, sugar-free ice cream, so it really sucks because good options are not always there. We are pretty much just stuck with natural fruit.
I heard that the Whole Foods supermarket organic food chain imports a huge amount of it's produce and products from China, where there is no regulation standard that differs between whether food is organically produced or not. In fact, Whole Foods released a statement saying they just cannot know for sure. But they charge you twice as much for the food, and they pay little for it since it comes from China. Same thing Wal Mart does with manufactured products. It's sad.

  2. Remember that Agave Syrup is a great alternative to sugar and artificial sweetners. It is all natural, low gi and tastes great!
